What to expect at your visit
Preparation for postpartum appointment: You do not need to bring your baby hungry to the visit. Very hungry babies do not feed well and are hard to settle! Try to feed your baby a little about one hour before your visit start time.
Please bring anything you typically use for feeding (bottle, pumped milk, nipple shield, etc) to the visit. If your baby has not been nursing well and typically feeds from bottles, please bring a bottle and milk.
You don't need to bring a pump unless you need help with the pump. I have a few seating options and a nursing pillow. I have a hand pump you can use but do not stock multi-user pumps. I do not keep formula or donor milk in the office.
You are welcome to bring another adult with your or your children. If your other children come, please bring another adult with you to care for them so you can focus on the visit. We have a little play space with toys and books. We appreciate it when big kids clean up after playing!
Parking: there is street parking all around the building or two nearby parking garages. Paid street parking downtown starts July 10 and will cost $1.50 per hour from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday. It can take a few minutes to find parking especially on weekends.
Parking in city-owned parkade remains free for up to three hours. You can pay using cash, coin or card at pay stations or using the Beep Beep Salem app.
Entrance: The elevator entrance to the building is on Court St NE next to Honey & Co restaurant. There is also a stairs entrance but be careful because it's steep!
Take the elevator up and enter through the door to your right. Go down the hall and take a right to go through the double doors to Suite 280 - be careful as there is a slight slope going through the double doors. If the door is open or cracked, come on in! Our neighbors appreciate any efforts to keep baby calm in respect of their clientele.
Follow up: We have 90 minutes allotted for initial visits from the booked starting time (follow ups are generally 1 hour). Any concerns or questions we aren't able to cover at that visit can be addressed at follow up visits or via telehealth. I'm happy to receive emails with updates but may need to schedule a visit for more complex questions or concerns. I will send you a Care Plan by the end of the day and can answer any questions through email, as well.
Payment: For self pay patients, I can accept cash, Venmo, or checks at the time of your visit. I cannot accept HSA cards or other forms of payment. A receipt is available upon request.
If you are running late and need to notify me or want to make a same day cancellation, please notify me!
Megan@bloom-lactation.com is my only email address and I will not get replies sent by the automatic appointment notifications and reminders.
